Olduvai Gorge
The excavation site of Oldupai Gorge is situated between Ngorongoro and Serengeti. It was here that the researcher couple Leaky 1976 found traces of prehistoric human beings, approximately 2 million years old. More fossils of human species have been found: Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus as well as the early and contemporary Homo Sapiens.
There is a small museum by the gorge with copies of the collected bones and tools. Among other things they exhibit a 3,6 million year old casting of footsteps from a human species of the same kind as “Lucy”, as well as fossils of extinct animals.
Take a rest on one of the benches outside the museum and admire stratas from millions of years.
